Journal of the California Dental Association (JCDA)

The award-winning Journal of the California Dental Association promulgates, translates, and advances oral health insights, scientific advances, clinical practice procedures, business management strategies, and legislative policies and proposals through accessible, peer-reviewed, evidence-based research. A Gold Open Access publication, JCDA publishes original research articles, case studies and case reports, systematic and literature reviews, discussions, meeting reports, exhibitions, and up-to-date scientific dentistry news on a wide range of topics relating to oral health. Established in 1893, JCDA is also an archive of dental history and a forum where dental professionals can publish their research for the international scientific community. With Gold Open Access, all articles published by JCDA are immediately, permanently, and freely available to all readers. JCDA became a Gold Open Access journal starting with Volume 51, 2023. However, all JCDA content, including archived issues, has been free to readers since Volume 35, 2007. Article processing charges (APCs) are underwritten by the California Dental Association, and authors pay no APCs or other fees to submit their articles to JCDA or to be published by JCDA.
