Journal of Rural Mental Health (JRMH)
Journal Descriptions
The Journal of Rural Mental Health® publishes articles on rural mental health research, practice, and policy within the United States and internationally. Focused on issues unique to those living and working in rural areas, the journal welcomes research on such topics as barriers to improving or accessing care in rural environments, issues faced by underserved populations, and disparities in mental health care. Discussion of policy implications, community-level issues, and multidisciplinary considerations is encouraged, as is exploration of integrated care, evidence-based practices, cultural factors, and ethical and regulatory considerations. Periodically, special theme sections or entire issues are developed that address topics of significant interest to residents of rural communities and those who serve them. Topics have included suicide, the use of technology, and substance mis-use. Submissions may take a number of forms, including brief and full-length reports of original research, theoretical or review articles, program descriptions, and letters to the editor. All manuscripts should include discussion of diversity considerations and be written for a multidisciplinary audience that includes scholars, front-line practitioners, and policy makers.
