Journal Descriptions

As the official journal of the Texas Counseling Association, Journal of Professional Counseling: Practice, Theory, and Research is a semi-annual scholarly publication, aiming at providing clinical, theoretical, and empirical guidance to professional counselors, educators, researchers, and other mental health professionals. The journal welcomes manuscripts that focus on various aspects of counseling practice and education, such as (a) practical and unique applications of counseling techniques/approaches in school and clinical settings, (b) significant quantitative and qualitative research, (c) critical integrations of published research, (d) theoretical and social policy, and (e) scholarly reviews of professional materials. Manuscripts are typically categorized into four types: research, theory, practice, and trends and issues. The Journal of Professional Counseling: Practice, Theory, & Research is the official journal of the Texas Counseling Association. Published bi-annually, the Journal of Professional Counseling is primarily technical and includes researched articles and news of interest to counseling professionals. We are thrilled to announce that TCA has partnered with Taylor & Francis, legendary academic publishers to publish the Journal of Professional Counseling: Practice, Theory & Research beginning with Volume 45 in early 2019.
