Journal of Plant Registrations (JPR)
Journal Descriptions
The Journal of Plant Registrations is the official registration journal of the Crop Science Society of America (CSSA), published in collaboration with Wiley/John Wiley & Sons. First launched in 2007 to accommodate formal registration reports previously scattered across other journals, it now provides an established and specialized platform for plant breeders, geneticists, and crop scientists worldwide. Published triannually, the journal focuses on the formal registry of novel plant cultivars, unique germplasm accessions, parental lines, genetic stocks, and mapping populations. Submissions undergo peer review to ensure that published registrations meet rigorous standards of novelty, genetic documentation, and reproducibility, including deposition of germplasm vouchers in recognized repositories such as the USDA-ARS National Plant Germplasm System. Its articles serve not only researchers and breeders but also policymakers and stakeholders in food, feed, fiber, and bioenergy industries by facilitating transparent and systematic documentation of genetic plant resources. The journal emphasizes high scientific quality, widespread accessibility, and contributions that strengthen genetic resource management and crop improvement efforts globally.
