Journal of Phase Equilibria is a peer reviewed scientific journal focused on the study of phase equilibria, thermodynamics, and diffusion phenomena in materials systems. Established in 1998 as a continuation of earlier alloy phase diagram publications, it later evolved into the Journal of Phase Equilibria and Diffusion, expanding its scope to include broader materials science research. The journal publishes high quality research articles, critical evaluations of phase diagrams, thermodynamic modeling studies, and experimental investigations related to metals, alloys, ceramics, and other engineering materials. A major emphasis is placed on understanding phase stability, transformations, and diffusion mechanisms that govern material behavior under different physical and chemical conditions. The journal is widely used by materials scientists, metallurgists, and physicists working in both academic and industrial research environments. It supports the development of reliable phase diagram databases and contributes to computational materials science, especially CALPHAD (Calculation of Phase Diagrams) methodology. Published originally by ASM International and later in collaboration with Springer Nature, the journal is indexed in major scientific databases including Scopus and Web of Science.
