Journal of Peacebuilding & Development (JPD)
Journal Descriptions
The Journal of Peacebuilding & Development (JPD) is a leading international, peer-reviewed academic journal that provides a scholarly forum for rigorous inquiry and dialogue on the complex relationship between peacebuilding and development. Established in 2002, JPD seeks to bridge theory and practice by publishing high-quality research that examines the underlying causes of conflict, the dynamics of violence, and the conditions that enable peace and sustainable development in fragile and conflict-affected societies. The journal’s interdisciplinary scope encompasses political science, peace and conflict studies, international relations, development studies, humanitarian action, and public policy. It features original research articles, case studies, theoretical essays, policy analyses, and reflective pieces that address critical themes such as the humanitarian-development-peace (HDP) nexus, security sector reform, community resilience, social justice, reconstruction and recovery, governance and legitimacy, human rights, reconciliation processes, and economic dimensions of peacebuilding. JPD emphasizes inclusive perspectives and South-North dialogues, foregrounding analyses that draw from diverse geographic, social, and cultural contexts. By connecting academic research with practitioner insights, the journal contributes to advancing constructive, evidence-based approaches that inform policy decisions and practice interventions aimed at reducing violence, fostering social cohesion, and promoting sustainable peace and development worldwide.
