Journal Descriptions

The Journal of Palliative Care is one of the longest-standing, peer-reviewed scholarly publications in the field of palliative care and palliative medicine, first published in 1985 and serving as a critical interdisciplinary forum for high-quality research and thought leadership. The journal publishes original clinical research, evidence-based reviews, opinion pieces, narrative and humanities-focused works, case reports/series, and reports on international palliative care activities and comparative services. Its scope includes clinical management of serious illness, quality of life research, psychosocial and ethical issues, caregiver support, health services delivery, policy impacts on care access, education and training of professionals, and cross-cultural insights into palliative care practices. Recognized for its rigorous peer review by experts from around the world, the Journal of Palliative Care supports innovation and best practice in the multidisciplinary management of patients with life-limiting conditions. It publishes work that advances understanding of patient- and family-centered care, fosters dialogue between clinicians, researchers and policymakers, and highlights effective models of care delivery. By bridging clinical science with real-world practice, the journal aims to improve care outcomes, influence health policy, and provide a global perspective on the evolving challenges and opportunities within palliative and end-of-life care.
