Journal of Monolingual and Bilingual Speech (JMBS)
Journal Descriptions
The Journal of Monolingual and Bilingual Speech (JMBS) studies human speech in all its manifestations. The Journal of Monolingual and Bilingual Speech (JMBS) provides a venue for the publication of original research and meta-analytical articles on the scientific study of child and adult speech (spoken/signed language) during acquisition or use in monolingual, bilingual, second and additional language(s), and dialectal contexts, spanning typical, atypical/disordered speech, and sign language. The journal publishes research in psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics, cognitive linguistics, neurolinguistics, clinical linguistics and speech pathology, educational linguistics, and applications of new technologies. Theoretical, experimental, observational, and computational contributions are welcome. The journal constitutes a unique publishing outlet in that it also encourages investigations across the dividing boundaries between speech/language research sub-fields and their various, often not indisputably classifiable, gradient types (monolingual vs. multi/bilingual, second/additional language, dialectal) that have chiefly led to the compartmentalization of theoretical and applied approaches, affecting resulting research findings. The journal kindles a holistic viewpoint among researchers and cross-linguistically, fostering collaborations across the board and enabling cross-field associations.
