Journal of Modern European History (JMEH)
Journal Descriptions
The Journal of Modern European History is an internationally recognized quarterly peer-reviewed academic journal that has been in continuous publication since 2003 and is published by SAGE Publications Ltd., based in London. The journal provides a forum for scholarly research and debate on the diverse and interconnected history of Europe from the 18th century to the present day. Its scope is deliberately broad, incorporating work on political, social, economic, cultural, intellectual, gender, and environmental aspects of European history, as well as studies of science and comparative themes. Contributors are encouraged to adopt transnational, comparative, and global perspectives, addressing not only traditional narratives of national history but also the broader processes that shaped modern Europe. The journal publishes original research articles, thematic special issues, and forums addressing current debates and methodological developments in historical scholarship. It is particularly interested in work that engages with contemporary concerns in historical interpretation, offers fresh conceptual frameworks, and explores the complex relationships between European regions and the wider world. Sponsored by institutions such as the German Historical Institute London and Warsaw, and the Max Weber Network for Eastern Europe, the journal promotes international collaboration among historians. Indexed in major databases including Scopus and Web of Science, the Journal of Modern European History is an important venue for historians seeking to contribute to cutting-edge scholarship on modern European history.
