Journal of Micromechanics and Microengineering (JMM)
Journal Descriptions
Journal of Micromechanics and Microengineering is an internationally respected monthly scientific journal first launched in 1991 and published by IOP Publishing Ltd., the publishing arm of the Institute of Physics. It provides a high‑visibility forum for original research in the multidisciplinary fields of micromechanics and microengineering, particularly work that advances the design, analysis, fabrication, characterization, and application of microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) and related technologies. The journal welcomes rigorous experimental studies, simulation‑driven research, and innovative engineering solutions that demonstrate deep technical insight and strong relevance to real‑world microsystem technologies. Its scope spans microdevice fabrication methods (e.g., etching, deposition, lithography), materials for microstructures, electromechanical behavior, sensor and actuator design, biomedical microdevices (including lab‑on‑a‑chip and biosensors), microfluidics, power MEMS and energy harvesters, as well as integration and packaging strategies for complex micro/nano systems. In recent years the journal also has broadened to include emerging topics such as flexible/wearable microelectronics and autonomous microsystems. As a hybrid open access journal, authors can choose traditional subscription publishing or open access under a Creative Commons licence. Indexed in major abstracting services and with a rigorous peer review process, the journal continues to serve as a key resource for researchers and engineers who bridge mechanical, electrical, materials, and biomedical engineering fields.
