Journal of Laboratory Automation (JLA)
Journal Descriptions
Journal of Laboratory Automation (JALA) was a peer-reviewed international scientific journal dedicated to the advancement of laboratory technologies and automation systems used in life sciences research, biotechnology, pharmaceutical development, and clinical diagnostics. Published as the official journal of the Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening (SLAS), the journal served as a multidisciplinary forum for researchers, engineers, and laboratory professionals seeking innovative solutions to improve research productivity, data quality, and experimental efficiency. The journal focused on scientific and technical developments that enabled modern laboratory research, including robotic systems, automated liquid handling, high-throughput screening platforms, microfluidics, nanotechnology, analytical instrumentation, synthetic biology, laboratory informatics, bioinformatics, cheminformatics, and quantitative analytical techniques. It also published studies related to diagnostics, drug discovery, molecular imaging, and precision medicine. JALA attracted contributions from academic institutions, government laboratories, and industrial research organizations worldwide. The journal emphasized practical applications of automation technologies that accelerated scientific discovery and improved reproducibility in laboratory workflows. It was indexed in major databases including MEDLINE and PubMed, enhancing its visibility within the scientific community. In 2017, the journal was renamed SLAS Technology, continuing its mission of promoting technological innovation in laboratory and life science research.
