Journal Descriptions

The JID aims to raise the profile of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) by creating a platform whereby leading scholars, representative of this group, and others, can disseminate and exchange ideas on contemporary issues as well as mentor young scholars in the field. The JID is an inter-disciplinary platform for discussions, critical dialogue, emerging themes, reflections and explorations on a wide range of topics and regions related to displaced populations around the globe. It publishes original research articles, case studies, policy analyses, and theoretical papers that explore the causes, impacts, and governance of internal displacement. The journal emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches, integrating perspectives from sociology, political science, geography, law, environmental studies, and international relations. The Journal of Internal Displacement follows a biannual publication schedule, releasing issues in January and July. It operates under a rigorous peer-review system and is committed to open access, allowing free global access to all published work without submission or publication fees. Its editorial leadership promotes inclusive scholarship, particularly supporting voices from the Global South. The journal plays a significant role in shaping global discourse on displacement and humanitarian policy by highlighting underrepresented populations and emerging challenges such as climate-induced displacement and forced migration dynamics.
