Journal of Human Development and Capabilities: A Multi-Disciplinary Journal for People-Centered Development is the peer-reviewed journal of the Human Development and Capabilities Association. Launched in January 2000, the Journal aims to stimulate innovative thinking and promote a multidisciplinary debate on concepts, measurement, analysis, policy and practice for human development cutting across economic, social, political, institutional and environmental issues. It provides a forum for an open exchange of ideas among a broad spectrum of academics, policy makers and development practitioners who are interested in confronting the challenges of human development at global, national and local levels. The Journal publishes original research work of high quality in social sciences (i.e. philosophy, economics, international development, politics, sociology, among others) and interdisciplinary pieces as well. Articles shall offer an original and significant contribution in poverty, inequality, well-being analysis, agency, gender, development ethics and social justice issues, and open new perspectives on challenges of human development. It also welcomes shorter (i.e. 1000-2000 words) policy contributions. All articles in this journal undergo rigorous peer review, based on initial editor screening followed by anonymous peer review evaluation for those that are not immediately rejected with motivations. Contributions must be rooted in, inspired by, or critically engage with the human development and capabilities approach and contribute to enhance the frontier of knowledge offering a value added to the current literature.
