Journal Descriptions
The Journal of Hip-Hop and Education (JHHE) is a double-blind peer-reviewed academic publication dedicated to exploring the dynamic intersection of hip-hop culture and educational practice. Its primary goal is to foster a deep understanding and appreciation of how hip-hop, as a rich and multifaceted cultural movement, influences and shapes educational methodologies, pedagogy and instruction, curriculum development, and school culture and communities across diverse learning environments globally. Published bi-annually, this journal will offer a platform for rigorous scholarly inquiry and critical analysis, focusing on the integration of hip-hop culture and sensibilities across and within educational settings. The scope of JHHE extends to examining hip-hop's role in shaping educational policies, pedagogical strategies, and educational contexts. It seeks contributions that delve into the application of hip-hop culture in fostering critical thinking, cultural awareness, and social justice in education. The journal prioritizes studies that showcase how hip-hop can be a powerful tool for addressing issues of equity and the disruption of systemic oppression and marginalization across educational spaces.
