Journal of Experimental Psychology (JEP)

The Journal of Experimental Psychology was one of the earliest and most influential psychology journals published by the American Psychological Association. Founded in 1916, the journal played a major role in advancing scientific research in experimental psychology throughout the twentieth century. It published pioneering studies related to learning, memory, cognition, sensation, perception, behavior, and psychological processes in both humans and animals. The journal became widely recognized for presenting rigorous experimental methods and statistically based psychological research. Due to the rapid expansion of psychological sciences, the original journal was divided in 1975 into several specialized journals focusing on distinct areas of psychology. These successor journals continue to be highly respected in psychology and behavioral science research. The publication has been indexed in major academic databases including MEDLINE, PsycINFO, Index Medicus, and library archives worldwide. Many landmark studies in cognitive and behavioral psychology first appeared in this journal, making it historically important in the development of modern psychological science.
