Journal Descriptions

The Journal of City Climate Policy and Economy (JCCPE) publishes timely, evidence-based research that contributes to the urban climate agenda and supports governmental policy towards an equitable and resilient world. The Journal of City Climate Policy and Economy (JCCPE) is published three times per year (April, August, December) by University of Toronto Press. JCCPE is supported by C40 Cities and the C40 Center for City Climate Policy and Economy. JCCPE publishes timely, evidence-based research that contributes to the urban climate agenda and supports governmental policy towards an equitable and resilient world. The Journal serves as a platform for dynamic content that highlights ambitious, near-term climate action, with a particular focus on human-centered solutions to today’s most pressing climate challenges. The Journal aims to empower mayors, policymakers, and urban practitioners with analysis, language, policies, and examples of concrete actions that reinvent and reinvigorate the idea of effective, purposeful government-led action. JCCPE welcomes original research, review articles, policy guidelines, and commentaries within the scope (see Manuscript Types). JCCPE is a peer-reviewed journal with a broad international readership of researchers, economists, and policymakers. Goal: The Journal’s overarching goal is based on C40’s goal of 1.5° Celsius, resilient, equitable cities. This provides an overarching, normative direction of climate resilient development and the moral and practical imperative to ensure change is equitable and just. Research need/focus: The focus for centre research is on the transformational change needed to achieve the goal. Within transformational change there are two particular areas of focus: Purposeful, progressive government and governance—research that explores the vital role of government at all levels but especially city municipalities, in leading purposeful, outcomes-oriented change
