Journal Descriptions

The Journal of Cases in Educational Leadership (JCEL) is an internationally recognized quarterly journal devoted to publishing peer‑reviewed case studies that illuminate critical issues in educational leadership preparation and practice. Since its inception in 1998, JCEL has provided a platform for scholars and practitioners to share narrative case materials coupled with detailed teaching notes that support discussion, reflection, and decision‑making in leadership classrooms and professional development settings. Each case is crafted to encourage rich inquiry into organizational, ethical, instructional, and policy‑related challenges that school and district leaders may confront in real life. Topics range from equity and cultural responsiveness, leadership during crises, political and policy pressures, to systemic reform efforts and community engagement strategies. By emphasizing contextualized and applied learning, the journal bridges the gap between academic research and authentic leadership practice. Contributors are encouraged to support cases with digital media and creative instructional resources, enhancing their relevance for coursework and professional development. JCEL’s commitment to global perspectives recognizes that effective educational leadership must be understood relative to diverse cultural and institutional environments. As a result, the journal has become an important resource for leadership educators, researchers, and doctoral students focused on preparing the next generation of school leaders.
