At the International Journal on Smart and Sustainable Cities (IJSSC), we believe cities are the decisive driving force for the development of humanity in all its technological, economic, socio-cultural and organisational aspects. If the organisations and institutions of cities were better able to manage the highly dynamic complexity of the urban environment, the quality of life of urban populations and rural areas associated with cities would improve dramatically. With the IJSSC, originally with the focus on the Asia-Pacific region, we want to broaden the regional scope and encourage readers and equip them with creative ideas to make cities more innovative and a better place to live. Our bi-annual publication provides a platform to connect theory and practice, share insights and experiences from policy makers, academics and industry leaders, and highlight the practical applications of science and technology to enhance the liveability and sustainability of cities. These all contribute to our aim of making our cities more liveable and provide a vibrant and creative environment for its citizens.
