Journal Descriptions

The International Journal of Tryptophan Research (IJTR) is an international, peer-reviewed, open access academic journal that provides a dedicated platform for multidisciplinary scholarly work centered on the amino acid tryptophan and its broad biological and chemical relevance. Established in 2008, IJTR fills a specialized niche in research by covering the full spectrum of tryptophan-related studies — from fundamental biochemical pathways to clinical and applied implications. Key topics include the metabolism of tryptophan, interactions and roles of its precursors and metabolites (such as serotonin, melatonin, niacin, kynurenine and other indoleamines), and the physiological effects of tryptophan in neurological disorders, immune response, nutrition, and general health. The journal also welcomes investigations into analytical methods, synthesis, industrial production, dietary supplementation, and physiological or pathological functions across organisms. IJTR’s scope extends to molecular biology, neuroscience, biochemistry, and nutritional science. As an open-access journal published by SAGE, it ensures rapid dissemination of high-quality research to a global scientific community, with articles indexed in major databases including Scopus and PubMed Central, making it a valuable resource for researchers, clinicians, and industry professionals focusing on amino acid research and neurochemical physiology.
