The journal attracts health promoters/educators from medicine, education, public health, sociology, nursing, administration, public relations and related fields. A typical paper for the journal should be no more than 3,500 words. Extended papers may be considered at the Editor's discretion. The Journal was founded in 1962 and is the official publication of the Institute of Health Promotion and Education who provide an international forum for sharing knowledge and experience on the basis of common interests in health education.
