Journal Descriptions

The International Journal of Applied Psychoanalytic Studies is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal established in 2004 and published quarterly by Wiley. The journal provides an international forum for the application of psychoanalytic theory and methods beyond traditional clinical practice. It focuses on how unconscious processes shape human behavior in social, cultural, organizational, and institutional contexts. The journal publishes original research articles, theoretical contributions, and reflective case-based studies that integrate psychoanalytic thinking with disciplines such as psychology, psychiatry, sociology, anthropology, education, and cultural studies. Topics include trauma and conflict, identity and subjectivity, group relations, leadership and organizations, social inequality, and political and cultural phenomena. A key aim of the journal is to demonstrate the contemporary relevance of psychoanalysis for understanding complex social realities and professional practice. By promoting interdisciplinary dialogue, it strengthens connections between clinical psychoanalysis and applied research in wider social domains. The journal serves clinicians, researchers, educators, and practitioners who use psychoanalytic perspectives to analyze individual experience and collective life.
