Journal Descriptions

Information Polity is a leading interdisciplinary journal dedicated to exploring how information technologies influence public governance and democratic life in the twenty-first century. Since its early volumes in the 2000s, it has provided a scholarly platform for research that investigates digital transformations in the public sector, the rise of networked governance, and the evolving role of citizens in digitally mediated political spaces. The journal places particular emphasis on the ways in which information and communication technologies (ICTs) enable, constrain, or transform the practices of government, public administration, policymaking, and democratic engagement. Articles in Information Polity combine rigorous theoretical frameworks with empirical evidence, addressing topics such as e-government adoption, digital participation and inclusion, data governance, algorithmic decision-making in public services, and the interplay between digital innovation and institutional change. By integrating perspectives from political science, public administration, information systems, and communication studies, the journal fosters critical debate on both the opportunities and challenges posed by digitalization for democracy and public governance. Its readership includes academics, policymakers, public managers, civil society practitioners and technology strategists who engage with issues at the intersection of information technology and governance.
