Information and Computation (IC)
Journal Descriptions
Information and Computation is a longstanding, peer‑reviewed academic journal in the field of theoretical computer science and computational theory, published by Elsevier Inc. The journal was originally launched in 1957 under the name Information and Control and rebranded to its current title in 1987 as its focus increasingly shifted towards computational foundations and information theory. It serves as a platform for high‑quality original research and survey articles covering computational complexity, logic and algorithms, semantics of programming languages, concurrency and distributed processes, cryptographic theory, decision problems, inductive inference and learning theory, and applications of information theory to computational systems. As a well‑established journal in computer science, it is indexed by major abstracting services including Scopus, the Science Citation Index, AMS Mathematical Reviews, and DBLP, reflecting its international scholarly impact. The journal maintains a monthly publication schedule, producing 12 issues per year, and features contributions from academic researchers, theorists, and practitioners interested in deepening understanding of computation and information as mathematical constructs and their implications for computing systems. Information and Computation continues to be a respected venue for research that bridges foundational theory with applications in computer science.
