Infection, Disease & Health (IDH)
Journal Descriptions
Infection, Disease & Health is an international peer‑reviewed journal dedicated to advancing knowledge on infection prevention, control, and the broad impacts of infectious disease on health and society. Established in 2016 (following its continuation from Healthcare Infection), the journal appears quarterly and publishes high‑quality original research articles, reviews, concise communications, case reports, commentaries, and opinion pieces. It serves a multidisciplinary readership that includes clinicians, epidemiologists, infection prevention professionals, public health practitioners, and policy makers. The journal particularly emphasizes work with a broad relevance to infection prevention and control (including epidemiology, hospital and community settings, aged care, and public health), and studies employing a One Health approach — recognizing the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health. Topics include infection control strategies, surveillance studies, policy and planning, zoonotic disease research, and health system responses to infectious threats. The editorial policy prioritizes contributions that generate new insights or advance debate on issues critical to infectious disease science and practice. As the official publication of the Australasian College for Infection Prevention and Control, the journal benefits from executive leadership with expertise in infection control, rigorous peer review, and dissemination via Elsevier’s global platforms including ScienceDirect.
