Journal Descriptions

Infancy is a peer-reviewed scientific journal published by Wiley-Blackwell on behalf of the International Congress on Infant Studies (ICIS) and has been in continuous publication since 2000. It serves as a leading international outlet for high-quality original research on normal and atypical development during the first two years of life. The journal’s scope covers both human and animal studies that deepen our understanding of fundamental developmental processes during infancy, including perception, cognition, social competence, attachment, language emergence, motor behaviour, and early brain development. Infancy accepts a range of article types including regular-length research articles, brief reports (up to ~3000 words), target articles with expert commentaries, debate articles presenting multiple theoretical viewpoints, and thematic collections that bring together research on a shared topic from different laboratories around the world. This rich variety of formats supports theoretical advancement, empirical discovery, and methodological innovation in infant developmental science. The journal’s interdisciplinary readership includes psychologists, cognitive scientists, neuroscientists, pediatricians, educators, and clinicians focused on early human development. As a bimonthly publication, Infancy contributes significantly to shaping contemporary research and dialogue in early developmental psychology.
