Human Psychopharmacology: Clinical and Experimental (HPCE)
Journal Descriptions
Human Psychopharmacology: Clinical and Experimental is a peer‑reviewed scientific journal published by John Wiley & Sons (Wiley‑Blackwell) that provides an international forum for the evaluation and dissemination of research on clinical and experimental aspects of psychotropic medications in humans. Since its establishment in 1986, the journal has aimed to bridge the gap between laboratory research and clinical application by publishing rigorous, evidence‑based studies that advance understanding of how drugs acting on the central nervous system affect human physiology, behavior, and clinical outcomes. The scope of the journal encompasses original research articles, clinical trials, systematic reviews, and theoretical contributions relating to the efficacy and safety of new and established psychotropic agents, investigational drugs, and other centrally active substances in various clinical and social contexts. It also includes research on the mechanisms of action, pharmacokinetics, neuroimaging findings, psychopharmacological aspects of sleep and chronobiology, and pharmacogenetic influences on drug response. Topics of interest extend to ethical and psychosocial dimensions of drug use, adverse effects, and specialized populations such as pediatric and geriatric patients. As a bimonthly publication, Human Psychopharmacology serves clinicians, researchers, pharmacologists, psychiatrists, neurologists, and other healthcare professionals involved in both experimental and clinical practice in psychopharmacology and related disciplines around the world.
