Histories of People and Place (HPP)

Histories of People & Placeis a new peer-reviewed journal for high-quality academic papers that address the history of regions and localities in all periods and across the globe. Regional and local history are broadly defined, encouraging the examination of both urban and rural contexts, and regions and localities as administrative, cultural, or geographic entities. Definitions of scale will vary according to time, location, context, and theme. Regional histories may transcend both local and national boundaries, and might offer a means of interrogating how these changed through time. Such histories might broaden understandings arrived at through a national focus or help to develop agendas for future exploration. The subject matter of regional and local histories invites a number of methodological approaches including oral history, comparative history, cultural history, and history from below. Histories of People & Place welcomes contributions situated in these methodological frameworks as well as interdisciplinary work that seeks to understand the history of regions or localities through the methodologies of geography, sociology or cultural studies, together with those that draw heavily upon material, pictorial, aural, cartographic, and literary sources.
