All submitted contributions were reviewed in a blind peer review process by national and international experts regarding their scientific quality, research currency, and relevance. The issues either feature individual contributions on current research or focus on a thematic focus set by the editors. Other researchers/teams also had the opportunity to publish thematically focused individual issues (Special Editions).
