Hérodote (Hérodote)

The quarterly journal Hérodote strives to promote a geography of action and a new, global conception of geopolitics. Through its analysis of political phenomena and geographical reasoning, Hérodote has established itself as the leading reference journal in the fields of geography and politics, and has played a key role in the reintroduction in France of the term geopolitics for the analysis of contemporary situations. The thematic issues of Hérodote deal with the analysis of relations between states (external geopolitics), or power rivalries within states (internal geopolitics), including European states and France, which regularly features among the themes addressed. Most articles include maps. Hérodote calls on recognized specialists and publishes the work of young researchers trained at the Institut français de géopolitique, founded by Béatrice Giblin at the University of Paris-VIII. The magazine Hérodote was founded in 1976 by Yves Lacoste.
