Gobierno & Sociedad is a semiannual academic journal published by the Instituto de Estudios Democráticos of the Electoral Tribunal of Panama. It specializes in democracy, citizenship, electoral law, and social sciences research. The journal aims to provide accessible, rigorous scholarship to academic communities and policymakers aligned with Panama’s institutional strategies for democratic studies and governance research. It publishes peer-reviewed research relevant to both academic audiences and decision-makers involved in democratic processes. The journal Gobierno y Sociedad is a biannual publication whose objective is to disseminate scientific research produced by the Electoral Tribunal's Institute for Democratic Studies and will include completed research by both national and international authors. Its thematic coverage covers public law and social sciences. Within its editorial output, INED has published works in the areas of democracy, citizenship, and electoral rights; electoral regulations and electoral bodies; and electoral actors and electoral behavior, which are also available in the institutional repository ( https://rinedtep.edu.pa/home ). These publications adhere to the powers established by Law 5 of 2016, Organic Law of the Electoral Tribunal, regarding "research, teaching, and democratic culture" and functions related to the research area. The journal is open to publishing research by interested authors, provided that it is within the scope of the journal and complies with the editorial standards required by INED for the dissemination of articles. The target audience for the journal Government and Society are academic communities and decision-makers in the field of democratic institutions and electoral processes.
