Global Implementation Research and Applications (GIRA)
Journal Descriptions
Global Implementation Research and Applications is an international, peer‑reviewed scholarly journal that serves as a forum for the development, integration, and exchange of implementation knowledge and experience across disciplines and sectors. It was first published in 2021 and continues to grow in influence by featuring rigorous empirical research, theoretical frameworks, systematic reviews, perspectives, protocols, and commentary on implementation science and practice. The journal’s scope spans implementation research methods, context analysis, readiness and capacity building, development and testing of implementation tools and measures, implementation planning and evaluation, strategies and processes, innovation fidelity and adaptation, policy implementation, systems interventions, and the scale‑up and sustainment of evidence‑based practices. Content reflects work from diverse settings such as education, health systems, behavioral health, child welfare, justice systems, engineering, public policy, and organizational change, making it relevant to researchers, practitioners, policy makers, and stakeholders aiming to bridge the research‑to‑practice gap. As the official journal of the Global Implementation Society, GIRA encourages international interdisciplinary contributions that deepen understanding of how research findings are applied in real‑world contexts. The hybrid publishing model supports both subscription and open‑access options, enhancing access and dissemination of implementation science globally.
