Journal Descriptions

Genetic Epidemiology is an established, peer‑reviewed biomedical journal dedicated to advancing the science of genetic epidemiology—an interdisciplinary field that investigates how genetic variants influence the distribution and determinants of traits and diseases in human populations. Since its inception in 1984, the journal has served as a leading outlet for research integrating epidemiologic study designs with genetic analysis, fostering insights into the complex interplay between genes, environment, and health outcomes. The journal welcomes a broad range of contributions, including original research articles that present novel findings from family‑based studies, population cohorts, and large‑scale association analyses; methodological papers that introduce new statistical frameworks, computational tools or analytic strategies; and comprehensive reviews that synthesize developments across genetics and epidemiology. Its content reflects the evolving landscape of the field, including advances in genomic technologies, high‑dimensional data analysis, risk prediction modeling and translational applications aimed at understanding disease etiology and enhancing public health. Published eight times per year, Genetic Epidemiology ensures timely dissemination of high‑impact work to statisticians, geneticists, epidemiologists, clinicians, and interdisciplinary researchers worldwide.
