Journal Descriptions

The journal Early Education sees itself as a multidisciplinary forum for the scientific and practically relevant discussion of all topics of early education, including the transition to school and the school entry level. With theoretical and empirical contributions, it represents the current state of scientific debate with regard to upbringing, education and care in childhood. Questions of the professionalization of educational professionals, the organizational anchoring of early education and the individual development of children in early educational contexts are addressed. Current discourses, projects and innovations in early childhood education are also published. The journal is aimed at scientists, lecturers who train and advise early childhood education professionals at universities, technical colleges and further education institutions, students and employees interested in the subject in youth welfare offices, day care centers, sponsoring institutions and elementary schools. The journal Early Education was launched in autumn 2011 with a special issue on professionalization in early childhood education by Hogrefe Verlag.
