Fortschritte der Chemie Organischer Naturstoffe (FCON)
Journal Descriptions
Fortschritte der Chemie organischer Naturstoffe (Progress in the Chemistry of Organic Natural Products) is a long-established scientific review series published by Springer-Verlag. It is dedicated to comprehensive coverage of advances in organic natural products chemistry. The series was founded in 1938 by László Zechmeister and has historically played a key role in documenting developments in natural product research across Europe and the international scientific community. The publication focuses on detailed review articles covering the isolation, structure elucidation, biosynthesis, and chemical synthesis of naturally occurring compounds. Major areas include alkaloids, terpenoids, flavonoids, glycosides, peptides, and other biologically active natural substances. It also includes advances in analytical techniques used in natural products research, such as spectroscopy and chromatographic methods. Unlike conventional journals that publish short research articles, this series is issued as edited volumes, with each volume dedicated to in-depth thematic reviews written by leading experts. This format allows for extensive discussion of chemical structures, reaction mechanisms, and biological activity of natural compounds. The series has historically been published in German, English, and French, reflecting its international scientific audience. Over time, it became part of the Springer Book Archive and continues under the English title Progress in the Chemistry of Organic Natural Products. It remains an important reference source for researchers in organic and natural products chemistry.
