Journal Descriptions

As the name of the journal indicates, the research articles published in Forskul primarily deal with research related to learning and teaching related to all subject areas and age groups within the school. By school is meant all the school types that are part of the Swedish school system, or equivalent school types in the Nordic countries, which include, among other things, preschool, preschool class, after-school center, compulsory school, upper secondary school as well as folk high school and adult education. Forskul also publishes research from independent school types such as cultural schools. The articles are reviewed according to a double-blind peer-review procedure by leading researchers to ensure that the results that are published are of high scientific quality. With the Education Act stating that school activities should be based on scientific foundations, it is important that research by, with and for teachers can be published and disseminated. Forskul is a journal where results from research speak directly to teachers about the professional problems that teachers have to deal with. Forskul publishes research results that will provide teachers in the school system with theoretical and practical tools to increase the conditions for children and students' learning. The practice-relevant results that are published are reviewed and linked to previous research and thus become part of a cumulative knowledge building – teachers' professional knowledge base
