Festival Internacional de la Imagen (FII)

The International Image Festival is an event with nearly 30 years of history, organized by the Department of Visual Design at the University of Caldas and, since 2021, in partnership with the Jorge Tadeo Lozano University of Bogotá; with executive management support from the Image Research Institute Foundation. The Festival is positioned as an internationally significant event, unique in Latin America, promoting the generation of knowledge, training, and research in art, design, science, and technology through its diverse programming. Throughout its history, it has been a space for reflection on the diverse ways of seeing and transforming the world through art, creation, and digital media, bringing together nationally and internationally renowned figures from diverse fields to discuss topics that interrelate digital culture with contemporary debates addressing the major challenges of the 21st century. Likewise, the Festival is positioned as a city event, offering a variety of artistic and cultural activities over the course of a week, promoting this cutting-edge exercise for the coffee region and its culture. The Festival has consolidated a network of partners with more than 60 international institutions, 30 national institutions, and the participation of participants and guests from more than 23 countries around the world. The event has received national, departmental, and local recognition for its history and impact in the region. The International Image Festival, in its academic segment, includes the International Academic Forum on Design and Creation, which has been in operation for 20 years. This forum allows for the collection and updating of research and research + creation knowledge from different perspectives and approaches that, in an interdisciplinary and cutting-edge manner, update knowledge about design, art, science, and technology around the world.
