Journal Descriptions

Feddes Repertorium is one of the oldest continuously published botanical journals in the world, with origins dating back to 1905. Initially established under Repertorium Specierum Novarum Regni Vegetabilis, its purpose was to provide a formal channel for publishing new plant species and systematic botanical research. Renamed Feddes Repertorium in honor of its founding editor Friedrich Karl Georg Fedde, the journal has since evolved into an international platform for high‑quality scholarship in plant taxonomy and geobotany. It is released on a quarterly basis, providing a steady flow of cutting‑edge research specifically focused on understanding plant diversity and classification. The journal publishes original articles, taxonomic revisions, nomenclatural reports, biogeographic surveys, and phylogenetic studies that collectively deepen scientific understanding of plant evolution and relationships. Across its long history, Feddes Repertorium has adapted to modern scientific standards and now features electronic publication alongside traditional print, ensuring wider accessibility and indexing in important databases. Its multidisciplinary scope fosters collaboration among systematists, ecologists, and evolutionary biologists, promoting rigorous academic discourse in botanical sciences. Contributions to the journal are internationally peer‑reviewed and reflect contemporary developments in methodologies, from classical morphology to molecular phylogenetics.
