Journal Descriptions

We strive to produce poignant commentary on current issues and to provide Patterson students with an opportunity to participate in the broader academic and policy-oriented discussion of international relations through biweekly posts, biannual magazines, and speaker events. As the sole student organization of the Patterson School of Diplomacy and International Commerce, ExPatt Magazine strives to represent the same standard of academic rigor, respect, and camaraderie that the School upholds through its interdisciplinary scholarship in international diplomacy, commerce, development, intelligence, and security. Accordingly, ExPatt Magazine’s blog provides adept and imaginative analysis of current issues in foreign affairs. The University of Kentucky plays host to one of the world’s “25 Best International Relations” programs, yet many in Lexington don’t even know we are here. As a registered student organization integrating with our UK and Lexington communities through meaningful analysis that informs local debates, we seek to employ the extraordinary asset that is the Patterson School to the benefit of Lexington, while raising our own profile and creating opportunities for students. Simply put, we are students in the Patterson School of Diplomacy and International Commerce, a group of some of the best and brightest scholars of our generation making a positive impact on the world around us.
