European Journal of Pain (EJP)
Journal Descriptions
The European Journal of Pain (EJP) is a multidisciplinary, international, peer-reviewed journal established in 1997, dedicated to advancing research and clinical practice in the field of pain science and management. It serves as the official journal of the European Pain Federation (EFIC), providing a global forum for high-quality clinical and basic science research relevant to all aspects of pain and its treatment. EJP publishes original research articles, systematic reviews, short communications, and commentaries that span core areas such as neurobiology, clinical pharmacology, psychology, behavioural therapy, epidemiology, acute and chronic pain conditions, cancer pain, and clinical trials. The journal’s scope encompasses experimental and observational studies in human subjects, animal models, and mechanistic investigations, reflecting the multidisciplinary nature of pain science. With a publication frequency of ten issues per year, EJP features timely and influential work from researchers and clinicians worldwide. Under the editorial leadership of Didier Bouhassira, the journal maintains rigorous peer-review standards and strives to foster translational insights that bridge basic mechanisms and clinical practice. Indexed in major scientific databases such as MEDLINE/PubMed and Web of Science, the European Journal of Pain plays a central role in shaping evidence-based approaches to understanding and managing pain, supporting researchers, clinicians, and policymakers in improving patient outcomes.
