European Journal of Forest Research (EJFR)
Journal Descriptions
fundamental and applied understanding of forest ecosystems, their dynamics, functions, and services. We welcome empirical, experimental, and model-based research that develops or tests broad principles relevant to forest ecology, management, and policy, and that clearly articulates its theoretical or practical implications. The journal’s scope spans multiple scales and disciplines, including forestry, forest ecology, ecophysiology, growth science, silvicultural treatments, biodiversity, and socio-economic aspects of forest systems. Studies at the molecular or cellular levels are considered, where they address ecosystem-level questions. Data papers that make high-quality forest datasets openly available, with appropriate metadata and context, are encouraged. Manuscripts that solely report inventories, method comparisons, local case studies, or purely observational work without a clear hypothesis or broader relevance fall beyond the scope of the journal. Methodological, modelling, or engineering studies are considered when they are firmly embedded within a forest ecosystem context and clearly demonstrate their contribution to ecological or socio-economic understanding or management.
