European Cells and Materials (ECM)
Journal Descriptions
European Cells & Materials (eCM) is an international, peer-reviewed open-access journal focused on biomaterials, tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, and musculoskeletal research. It provides a multidisciplinary platform for publishing high-quality research that explores the interaction between cells and biomaterials, with strong emphasis on translational biomedical science. The journal publishes original research articles, reviews, and methodological papers covering areas such as stem cell biology, bone and cartilage regeneration, orthopedic biomaterials, nanomedicine, drug delivery systems, and cell-material interactions. It is widely recognized in the biomedical engineering community for promoting clinically relevant research in tissue repair and regenerative therapies. Established in 2001, the journal has built a strong reputation for rigorous peer review and open-access dissemination. It is supported by several European scientific societies in biomaterials and orthopaedics. The journal typically publishes twice a year (semiannual frequency), with continuous online publication of accepted articles. eCM is indexed in major databases such as Scopus, Web of Science (SCIE), PubMed/MEDLINE, DOAJ, and CrossRef, making it highly visible in biomedical and materials science research. It has a solid citation impact and is generally ranked in Q1–Q2 categories in biomaterials and biomedical engineering fields.
