Environmental Modelling & Software (EM&S)
Journal Descriptions
Environmental Modelling & Software is a peer‑reviewed international journal that publishes high‑quality research focused on environmental modelling, simulation and software systems. The journal serves scientists, engineers and practitioners working on the development, evaluation and application of computational models and software tools to represent, understand, predict and manage the behaviour of natural environmental systems — including water, air, land and socio‑environmental systems. It publishes original research articles, review papers, short communications, software news and methodological advances that contribute to environmental modelling theory, practice and software implementation. The journal seeks studies of conceptual frameworks, model design and development, model evaluation and uncertainty analysis, decision‑support systems, integration of models across disciplines, and real‑world environmental applications. Its aim is to enhance capacity to simulate and interpret environmental processes at practical scales and to communicate modelling and software advances to a broad scientific and professional audience.
