English Literary Renaissance (ELR) is a leading journal for new research in early modern English literature and culture. Committed to using its international reach to share groundbreaking ideas, ELR encourages submissions from both established and emerging scholars. The journal takes a special interest in work that expands scholarly understanding of the less-than-canonical writers, the lost cultural histories, and the understudied artifacts of early modern England and its global engagements. English Literary Renaissance is a journal devoted to current criticism and scholarship of Tudor and early Stuart English literature, 1485-1665, including Shakespeare, Spenser, Donne, and Milton. It is unique in featuring the publication of rare texts and newly discovered manuscripts of the period and current annotated bibliographies of work in the field. It is illustrated with contemporary woodcuts and engravings of Renaissance England and Europe In addition to critical scholarship, ELR also publishes comprehensive review essays in its “Recent Studies” series and occasional editions of short significant manuscripts.
