Journal Descriptions

Ekfrase: Nordic Journal of Visual Culture is an academic journal for studies of visual culture and aesthetic expression in the Nordic countries. The journal takes an interdisciplinary approach to visual and intermedial disciplines within the fields of art and media, and aims to publish the best visual culture research in the Nordic countries. Ekfrase seeks to generate new insight, encourage debate, and create a central arena for future discussions about visual culture and aesthetics in the Nordic countries. Ekfrase publishes two issues per volume. Each issue contains peer-reviewed articles, book reviews, interviews and debate pieces. The target group for the journal is researchers, teachers and students within all aesthetic disciplines at Nordic educational institutions, specialist and research libraries, and other relevant institutions. The journal is published with financial support from the Nordic Publishing Committee for Journals in the Humanities and Social Sciences (NOP-HS). All content in this journal is exported to Portico, a preservation archive that safeguards perpetual access to e-journals, e-books, and digital collections. Ekfrase has published seven volumes (2010-2016). The last issue, 1-2 2016, was published February 23rd, 2017.
