Journal Descriptions

Education, Citizenship and Social Justice is a well-established, peer-reviewed academic journal that has been published since 2006 by SAGE Publications. Appearing three times a year, the journal offers an international and multidisciplinary space for scholarship that critically examines the intersections of educational processes and social justice concerns. It foregrounds research that challenges conventional understandings of education and citizenship by exploring how schooling and educational policy engage with questions of inequality, diversity, civic responsibility, power relations, human rights, and democratic participation. Contributors to the journal engage with both theoretical and empirical perspectives, employing diverse methodologies to investigate how education mediates experiences of inclusion, exclusion, and social transformation. Topics often include citizenship education, global citizenship, participatory action research, youth activism, equity and social policy, and the relationships between education and marginalization. By fostering dialogue among scholars, practitioners, and policymakers, Education, Citizenship and Social Justice advances critical understanding of how educational institutions and practices can contribute to — or hinder — efforts toward equitable and democratic societies. Its readership encompasses researchers in education, critical pedagogy, social policy, and related fields.
