Journal Descriptions

ECS Proceedings Volumes were a long-standing series of published compilations documenting technical papers and research presented at The Electrochemical Society meetings and topical symposia. Rather than functioning as a typical serial journal with periodic issues, each Proceedings Volume was centered on a specific conference event or focused symposium, capturing peer-reviewed and invited contributions by participating scientists and engineers. These volumes provided researchers with early and often in-depth access to evolving developments across electrochemistry, solid-state science, materials processing, corrosion science, energy conversion and storage, sensors, and related interdisciplinary domains. Because meetings spanned many specialized topical areas, the resulting Proceedings Volumes were rich in diversity, reflecting cutting-edge research and technological applications of immediate interest to practitioners and academics. The series existed for several decades from the mid-20th century until 2005, when ECS consolidated this publishing tradition into a new format — ECS Transactions (ECST) — designed to modernize conference proceedings distribution with improved digital access and editorial management. Today, the original Proceedings Volumes are preserved in the ECS Digital Library and related archival platforms, allowing researchers to explore historical proceedings and trace the evolution of topics in electrochemical and solid-state research over time.
