Ecological Indicators is a well-established monthly peer-reviewed scientific journal first published in 2001 and currently published by Elsevier B.V. It serves as a leading platform for ecological and environmental research focused on indicator science—the development, testing, modelling, and applied use of ecological metrics to evaluate ecosystem health, biodiversity trends, and environmental sustainability. The journal emphasizes rigorous, quantitative methodologies and interdisciplinary assessments that link ecological indicators to management practices, policy decisions, and ecosystem monitoring programs. It publishes a wide range of contributions including original research articles, review papers, short notes, case studies, special themed issues, viewpoints, and letters to the editor, all of which contribute to advancing the science and application of ecological indicators across terrestrial, aquatic, and socio-ecological systems.
