East African Medical Journal (EAMJ)
Journal Descriptions
The East African Medical Journal (EAMJ) is one of the oldest and most respected medical journals in Africa, first published in 1932 and issued on a monthly basis. As the official publication of the Kenya Medical Association, it serves as the primary forum for clinicians, researchers, and public health experts to report original scientific research, case reports, and review articles addressing pressing medical and health challenges in East Africa. EAMJ welcomes manuscripts that explore clinical and basic research, disease epidemiology, health systems, tropical diseases, medical education, and other areas that contribute to understanding and addressing regional health priorities. The journal plays an important role in disseminating evidence that informs clinical practice, health policy formulation, and public health strategies across Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and neighbouring countries. Its editorial standards and peer‑review process ensure that published work meets scientific rigor and relevance for its broad professional readership. Over many decades, EAMJ has contributed significantly to regional knowledge on infectious diseases, maternal and child health, non‑communicable diseases, and emerging health threats, maintaining a pivotal role in advancing medical science in East Africa.
