Discovery and Innovation (DI)
Journal Descriptions
Discovery and Innovation is an international peer-reviewed academic journal focusing on scientific research and technological development, particularly in Africa and other developing regions. The journal was launched in 1989 by the African Academy of Sciences in collaboration with the World Academy of Sciences to create a platform for sharing scientific knowledge and innovation relevant to sustainable development and societal progress. The journal publishes multidisciplinary research covering fields such as natural sciences, agriculture, engineering, environmental science, technology, and selected social sciences related to scientific development and policy. Its main objective is to highlight scientific achievements and technological innovations that address regional and global challenges including climate change, agricultural productivity, natural resource management, and health issues. Discovery and Innovation also emphasizes the importance of integrating science with development policy, encouraging collaboration among scientists, policymakers, and institutions across Africa and the developing world. Through its quarterly issues, the journal disseminates original research articles, reviews, and reports that contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge and innovation. By providing a platform for African and international researchers, the journal has played an important role in promoting science-driven development and strengthening research networks across the continent and beyond.
