Objective of the journal Der Schmerz is an internationally renowned publication organ and is aimed at physicians of all disciplines as well as general practitioners and psychologists who are involved in the treatment of pain patients or in pain research. The aim of the journal is to improve the care of pain patients in the long term. Practice-oriented reviews take up selected topics and offer the reader a compilation of current findings from all areas of pain research and symptom control in pain. In addition to imparting relevant background knowledge, the focus is on evaluation and scientific results, taking into account practical experience. Freely submitted originals enable the presentation of important clinical studies and serve as a forum for scientific exchange. Unusual courses of illness or treatment in the "The Interesting Case" section encourage the optimisation of diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. The section is based on the continuing education regulations of the department.
